| Injuries lessen Jennings' role on field, not in the clubhouse | | Posted Saturday, October 21, 2006 2:58:05 AM by Blog57 Team | | Left tackle Jonas Jennings' recent spate of injuries is now threatening his job. When asked if Adam Snyder, who has been playing left guard for the injured Larry Allen, will challenge Kwame Harris for his right-tackle position when Allen returns, coach Mike Nolan said Snyder will challenge for jobs at right and left tackle. That's a bold statement considering Harris' struggles this season (on Sunday, he yielded a sack and was penalized three times). Most figured Snyder would just plug in at right tackle for Harris. Injuries have minimized Jennings' contribution since he signed a six-year, $36 million deal in 2005. Jennings missed all but three games last year, following shoulder surgery. The Chiefs suddenly found themselves in the market for a backup quarterback for the exhibition opener Saturday against the Houston Texans after Damon Huard sprained a foot earlier this week. Third-round draft pick Brodie Croyle has been practicing only in running drills while he works his way back from a shoulder injury, which would have left only starter Trent Green and Canadian Football League star Casey Printers available to take snaps.
