The backers of Cranky.com are betting on it. Cranky is a specialty search engine designed to please aging baby boomers by processing every request from the perspective of someone who is at least 50 years old. "Our research found that people 50 and over are confused about searching on the Web," said Jeff Taylor, the Cranky mastermind who previously struck it rich as the founder of online employment site Monster.com. "It's hard for them to under- stand all the results." Cranky is trying to simplify things by showing just four Web sites in the nonadvertising section of each results page and making the sparser listings more relevant to its target audience. After teaming up with Internet research firm Compete Inc. to identify the 500,000 most popular Web sites among people at least 45 years old, Cranky dispatched reviewers to dig even deeper into the top 5,000 destinations.... | |

The cream has been created by a team led by Igor Sokolov, a Physics professor at Clarkson University, together with Craig D. Woodworth, Clarkson professor of Biology. As a part of the research, Sokolov used both atomic force and immunoflouresence microscopy to compare young and old epithelial skin cells. "Elasticity of these cells is important. In addition to cosmetic benefits, elastic epithelial cells help maintain the skin's integrity and facilitate healing after an injury," remarks Sokolov.
