"When the parents bring their child to ride the school bus, youngsters become upset," said Remo. "I didn't even know he was afraid of the bus," said Carol Horton of Venice, his grandmother. "Usually the child feels better after the mother or father leaves, but you have to get them into the bus first," Remo said. Lessening the anxiety of Kyle and other first-time bus riders was the purpose of a program put on by the staff at AAA's Venice branch Friday. They got safety tips about school and bus riding, learned how to buckle up and took a 10-minute ride so they would good feel about riding. Worries about Iran's nuclear program and North Korea's missile tests supported high oil prices. New York's main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in August, closed down $US1.05 at $US74.09 a barrel. In earlier trading the contract had shot up to $US75.78 a barrel, smashing a previous record high on Wednesday in the aftermath of North Korea's missile salvo.
