| COSMETICS Q&A PAULA BEGOUN: Beware essential oils at masseuse | | Posted Monday, September 18, 2006 3:05:06 AM by Blog57 Team | | Q. I am a massage therapist and I regularly use essential oils in my treatments. In fact, certain specialty treatments call for copious amounts of pure essential oils to be put on the back and limbs, along with other vegetable oils. Is this safe? After reading your book, and treating my own facial skin, I know that essential oils aren't good for the face (because of irritation or a sensitizing skin reaction), but are they a problem on the rest of the body? How can I incorporate aromatherapy into my massages without compromising the health of the skin? Anything that irritates the skin is a problem. In terms of essential oils (meaning aromatic oils such as eucalyptus, lavender, peppermint, etc.), their possible benefit for providing antioxidant protection is easily replaced with other oils that have no risk of causing irritation, such as olive, evening primrose, canola, and sunflower oils, which you are already using (at least that's what I assume you mean by other vegetable oils).... | |

She said that essential oils can be found in common everyday products such as toothpaste which has the essential oils peppermint and mint.... | |

| | | WE felt like glamorous stars of Old Hollywood as we made our way up the cut stone driveway of Goat Hill to be met by | | Posted Monday, July 10, 2006 3:00:18 AM by Blog57 Team | | Goat Hill truly reflects the owners - firstly, their love of stones and secondly, it's neither showy nor pretentious, reeking not of marble and gilt but of an edgy, classy and sophisticated sensitivity of life. Champagne was what was being poured and Patricia, the cook - elegant in Wright Style bandana uniform - passed around dainty, tasty marlin bites. It's difficult not to keep dropping the jaw, especially as one steps across the courtyard with its fountain framed by stones, which were excavated from underground. And then there's the view; not one but several. The east one plays suitable homage to the sunrise (which we experience the following day), Montego Bay and the Great River; while the west view is that of Round Hill, the Caribbean Sea and the sunset. .... | |
