In August last year, Melinda McDonald and Kathleen Notley were at Club Pink at CISAC in Belconnen, when they were told by staff to stop breastfeeding their babies. The club argued its "no children, members only policy" also excluded newborns from the gym area. The matter was referred to the ACT Discrimination Tribunal and today it heard the women's-only gym has decided to settle the matter under confidential terms. The women have accepted but the terms are yet to be finalised. Last month, Club Pink added a mothers' breastfeeding room to the complex. .... | |

They go once and never go back. When you look for a gym to join, you have to check out more than just the equipment and amenities. Sure a sauna and a staff masseuse are great, but what kinds of people work out there? For the past six months I've been working out at a gym, usually about three or four times a week and I have discovered that gyms are one of the best places to people watch. Sure the mall is great too, but you don't really see a person's true colors until you've seen sweat. Gyms, like people, have personalities. You have to find the one that fits yours, and the best way to do that is to identify the kind of people who work out there. There are many different types of people to look for in the gym, but you have to go at different times of the day to find them.... | |

"I keep my car locked and my keys with me now."It's a lesson learned the hard way after he says his car was burglarized while he was inside working out at the 24-Hour Fitness gym on Rufe Snow.Police say James isn't the only one, other burglaries have happened at various other 24-Hour Fitness clubs in North Texas. They say the suspect is using a stolen membership card to get into the facilities."This guy isn't breaking into lockers, he's specifically looking for quick easy ways to get in your property, getting in and getting away," said Larry Irving, North Richland Hills Police Department.James says the suspect took his car keys out of his gym bag.... | |
