| | | Trees trouble Tiger, Allenby rides out the wind | | Posted Sunday, September 03, 2006 1:45:04 PM by Blog57 Team | | Two shots behind was Tiger Woods, who hit into the trees, through the trees and even hit the trunk of a tree twice on one swing while scratching out a 1-over 72 that still left him in the hunt for his fifth straight PGA Tour victory. | | | AP Interview: Calif. prisons may contract for inmate health care | | Posted Saturday, August 05, 2006 10:57:12 AM by Blog57 Team | | SACRAMENTO The state's corrections chief says California prison system is ill-equipped to provide hospital services to prisoners and should let an independent health care provider take over. The prisons' health care system is plagued by mismanagement and negligence and is under the control of a federal receiver. Acting Corrections Secretary James Tilton says inmates are dying for lack of proper care. He tells the Associated Press the department should spin off health care duties to an independent organization such as a university or private medical system or a new state agency. He agrees with a federal court-appointed receiver who tells the A-P that the prison system should eventually contract health care to a government or private provider.
