CEDAR RAPIDS - Imagine how many steps you take in one day. Now imagine losing your ability to walk. Worldwide, there are millions of people who need help with that seemingly simple task. That's why "Wheels for the World" is collecting wheelchairs, aluminum crutches and canes, foldable walkers and jogging strollers. Those items are then sent to people with living disabilities in developing countries. “Wheels for the World" also appreciates monetary donations. It costs $150 to restore and deliver each wheelchair. ....

In the past, going for a jog just meant simply pulling on a pair of sneakers. Today, amateur sports enthusiasts can draw on a range of gadgets to help them get fitter, faster. Pulse watches and high-tech training shoes are now a firm part of a jogger's armoury. Experts agree these products are useful, but that they also have their limits. Is fitness getting more technical? "Definitely," says Professor Ingo Froboese of the German High School for Sport in Cologne. "And it's mainly amateur sports people who are taking to modern technology." Ursula Moses, spokeswoman for the Munich Marathon and the Munich Triathlon, agrees. She has met thousands of sports people and has observed a tendency towards more gadgetry. The video's Dubya impersonator — Timothy Bottoms from the short-lived Comedy Central sketch show "That's My Bush!" — bumbles through various urban scenarios, blissfully unaware he is making matters worse whenever he tries to help. ....

Matt Dillon urges men who are trying to quit smoking to take up running as a hobby because it helped him give up for good. The actor started jogging 10 years ago when he quit smoking and he insists the healthy lifestyle made him turn his back on cigarettes for good. He says, "After running four miles, the last thing you want to do is light up a cigarette. If I hadn't started exercising, I might have picked up the habit again." And the 42-year-old insists all men in their 40s should start taking their health seriously. He adds, "The name of the game is balance, staying in shape, not letting yourself go to the point of no return. As you get older, it gets harder and harder to bounce back. You have this internal meter." Check out some Matt Dillon PHOTOS....
