It offers customized hormone consultations, facials, massages and pedicures for women, couples and girls-night-out parties. In the quarter, E*Trade earned $156.5 million, or 36 cents a share, including a charge of 1 cent a share for acquisitions, up from $101.6 million, or 27 cents a share. Net revenue surged 58% to $611 million. Analysts, most of whom excluded the acquisition expense, were forecasting earnings of 35 cents a share on revenue of $596 million, according to Thomson First Call. E*Trade's strong results were similar to the better-than-expected earnings posted by its online rival TDAmeritrade (ATMD - commentary - Cramer's Take).
