Cornell sets scholarship in name of super alum Christopher Reeve

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) _ An endowed scholarship has been established at Cornell University in memory of "Superman" alumnus Christopher Reeve. West Nile infects 10 Carson Valley residents

Douglas County's total of West Nile virus cases has risen to 10. In addition to the case of a 34-year-old woman reported in early August, at least two more residents older than 50 have contracted the critical neuroinvasive form of the virus in recent weeks. Three of the cases here have been the milder form, without resulting in encephalitis or meningitis. The remainder of the cases had not been differentiated between the two forms of the disease that are reported. The number of West Nile virus cases reported in Nevada has risen significantly this month, from 42 to 55 in the past week, according to Martha Framsted, spokeswoman for the Nevada Health Division. VANCOUVER -- A team of U.S. researchers has published the results of their work on helping people with severe paralysis perform basic tasks using a computer chip implanted directly onto the surface of the human brain, which allowed test subjects to open email, watch television, and even play Pong! by simply thinking about it.
