It's about time a plus size model who actually practises yoga shared one with us. And she's bigger than a size 10! Megan Garcia is a prominent model for both magazine and catalogues. She starred in a yoga video by the clothing company Just My Size (see recommended links below for review) in 2005. Mega Yoga is a totally separate venture all her own. Megan was attracted to the concepts of yoga in college. Out of necessity she immediately began developing modifications for her body type but it wasn't until she attended the Kripalu Center in Massachusetts that she considered becoming a certified yoga instructor. Yoga Shelter started in West Bloomfield in 2004 and opened a second location, in Royal Oak, one year later. With investment from Weight Watchers Group Chief Operating Officer Hannan Lis, the company plans to open several Metro Detroit studios in the coming year and then expand nationwide. The company's profile should get another boost this winter when co-owner Eric Paskel releases nationwide a series of music-infused yoga DVDs. 'There is also imperative need for regular lectures and exercises on yoga techniques to de-stress our jawans in field units. Immediate steps may be initiated in this direction,' the standing committee on defence said in its 'Review of medical services and education in the defence sector' tabled in both houses of parliament Wednesday. It recommended that the strength of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) be raised 'in proportion to its increased workload and responsibility' and that the Pune-based AFMC Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) be converted into a deemed university. Looking at the 'size, responsibility and nature' of AFMS, its director general should be upgraded to the level of secretary to the government as is the case with the Director General Health Services (Civil), said the committee headed by Lok Sabha MP Balasaheb Vikhe Patil (Congress).... | |

At her studio in Barrington ? Synergy Power Yoga ? wasabi green walls and an open expanse of wood flooring speak of the simplicity of the space and the philosophy of the studio. Although the yoga style is a true workout, she said it also has a meditative quality that's important in today's hectic culture. Ms. Sullivan, 42, grew up in Lincoln, but lived in a lot of places before returning to her home state. She has lived in Barrington since 2003 with her husband Paul, and children Molly, 7, and Tessa, 2. Keeping it simple: "We don't have mirrors, and you just listen to your breath.
